Bain TestGorilla Guide

Does Everyone Get the Bain TestGorilla Assessment?

What an invitation — or its absence — really signals.

    Short answer

Nearly every Bain consulting candidate receives the TestGorilla assessment after their application is reviewed. Exceptions include some senior experienced hires, specialist tracks, and candidates whose applications are rejected at the resume screen. If you've applied but not received the invitation, your application is still under review or was screened out at the CV stage.

    Who gets the invitation

Associate Consultants, Consultants, Summer Associates, and most experienced hires receive the TestGorilla. It's sent after Bain's recruiting team reviews your CV and decides you meet the baseline criteria for the role and office.

A small number of candidates skip the assessment — typically senior experienced hires with directly relevant industry experience, internal transfers, and some specialist tracks (e.g., advanced analytics roles where a separate technical test is used instead).

    Timing of the invitation

Invitations usually arrive 1–4 weeks after the application deadline for campus roles, and 2–6 weeks after submission for experienced-hire applications. You'll get an email from TestGorilla (not Bain directly) with a 3–7 day window to complete the test.

If you applied weeks ago and haven't received the invitation, the most likely explanations are: your application is still in the queue, you were screened out at the CV stage, or the office's hiring needs changed. Bain typically sends rejection emails within 4–6 weeks, but not always promptly.
